Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our finance team on a part-time basis (2 days per week). This role is ideal for someone seeking flexible work arrangements while contributing meaningfully to the financial operations of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process accounts payable and receivable
- Manage monthly payment run, ensuring timely and accurate payments
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards
- Prepare various journal entries (prepayments, accruals & leave provisions etc.)
- Perform balance sheet reconciliation
- Prepare and lodge payroll tax
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Liaise with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Support quarter-end and year-end closing processes
- Assist in preparing management accounts
- Assist with the annual audit
- Assist with payroll processing and employee expense claims as required
- Provide administrative support as required
Qualifications & Skills:
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an accounting or finance role
- Good grasp of accounting principles & Australian taxation system (including GST, BAS, PAYG)
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero) and Microsoft Excel
- Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy
