Job Description
JOB DETAILS
Responsibilities of the Position
- Manage and continuously improve digitalLIFT’s financial policies and procedures, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate accounting.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including QuickBooks bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, billing, invoicing, and month-end close.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Monitor budget-to-actual performance and support staff in managing program and departmental budgets.
- Support the annual budgeting process and assist with financial planning and forecasting.
- Prepare and monitor cash flow projections.
- Coordinate the annual independent audit and support grant and program audits.
- Work with an external firm to prepare the organization’s Form 990.
- Support grant budgeting, tracking, and reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with HR on payroll processing, benefits renewals, and insurance compliance.
- Work with the Operations team on vendor contracts and financial aspects of partnerships.
- Assist in developing program costing models and financial projections.
- Prepare financial materials for leadership and Board meetings, including finance committee support as needed.
- Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
- Supervise accounting or administrative support, if applicable.
- Other duties as assigned, aligned with a 32-hour workweek.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit accounting, grants management, compliance, and reporting.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online required.
- Familiarity with Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) requirements for nonprofit accounting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial staff.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time role.
- High level of attention to detail and accountability.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Google Workspace, and cloud-based systems.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
