Job Description

JOB  DETAILS

Responsibilities of the Position

  • Manage and continuously improve digitalLIFT’s financial policies and procedures, ensuring strong internal controls and accurate accounting.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including QuickBooks bookkeeping, accounts payable and receivable, billing, invoicing, and month-end close.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Monitor budget-to-actual performance and support staff in managing program and departmental budgets.
  • Support the annual budgeting process and assist with financial planning and forecasting.
  • Prepare and monitor cash flow projections.
  • Coordinate the annual independent audit and support grant and program audits.
  • Work with an external firm to prepare the organization’s Form 990.
  • Support grant budgeting, tracking, and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR on payroll processing, benefits renewals, and insurance compliance.
  • Work with the Operations team on vendor contracts and financial aspects of partnerships.
  • Assist in developing program costing models and financial projections.
  • Prepare financial materials for leadership and Board meetings, including finance committee support as needed.
  • Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
  • Supervise accounting or administrative support, if applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned, aligned with a 32-hour workweek.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
  • CPA or progress toward certification is a plus.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of nonprofit accounting, grants management, compliance, and reporting.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online required.
  • Familiarity with Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) requirements for nonprofit accounting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial staff.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a part-time role.
  • High level of attention to detail and accountability.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel), Google Workspace, and cloud-based systems.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
