JOB DETAILS

 

The Human Resources Assistant is an entry-level role designed for individuals interested in starting a career in Human Resources. This position provides administrative and operational support to the HR department while gaining hands-on experience in core HR functions such as recruiting, onboarding, employee records, and compliance. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, detail-oriented, and enjoys working with people in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

HR activities are crucial to accessing HR data and respecting the confidentiality of prospective candidates, applicants, and employees at the company. Those granted access to HR information, systems, and data will make all appropriate efforts to protect and secure information.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Support recruitment and onboarding by coordinating interviews, preparing offer packets, and assisting with new-hire orientation and paperwork.

2. Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and personnel files, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with company policies and employment laws.

3. Assist with timekeeping, attendance, and payroll support, including tracking employee data and responding to basic payroll-related inquiries.

4. Provide administrative support to the HR department, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining HR documentation.

5. Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures, escalating complex issues to HR leadership when appropriate.

6. Support compliance efforts by assisting with audits, maintaining required postings, and helping ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws.

7. Assist with employee relations processes, including documentation, corrective action tracking, and investigation support as directed by HR management.

8. Participate in HR projects and initiatives, such as training coordination, policy updates, and continuous improvement of HR processes.

COMPETENCIES

  • Proven admin or assistant experience preferred
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures preferred
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skill
  • Fluent  English

 

POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

I. Working knowledge of mail processes such as postage machines, FedEx and UPS.

2. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in related field/position

3. Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint

4. Well-developed administrative support skills-including strong calendar management skills

5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

6. Well organized with strong attention to detail, analytical and reasoning abilities

7. Strong communication skills, and experience being a flexible and proactive member across various internal teams

 

Pay: $24.00 – $27.00 per hour
