Sales Tax and Bookkeeping Associate

What You’ll Do

Sales Tax

• Ensure timely and accurate filing of sales tax returns.
• Reconcile sales tax payable accounts.
• Performing nexus audits to assess obligations.
• Set up new sales tax accounts for clients.
• Address and resolve sales tax issues and notices.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of sales tax regulations and compliance requirements.

Bookkeeping Support

• Maintain accurate financial records
• Record all daily retail transactions (sales, purchases, returns, and expenses).
• Process and store financial documents (invoices, receipts, etc.)
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, as needed.
• Maintain general ledger accuracy and timeliness.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain financial statements.

Tax Compliance [If Applicable]:

• Ensure proper filing of sales tax, VAT, and other local taxes, adhering to deadlines and legal requirements.
• Prepare records for audits and work with external auditors as needed.

Other Duties:

• Provide client support for service-related issues.
• Provide general administrative support to the Accounting department.
• Collaborate with team members for quality control.
• Stay updated with industry trends, accounting software, and best practices.
• Take initiative to continuously improve processes, seek professional development opportunities, and contribute to the company’s culture of trust and accountability.

Who are you

• Strong background in accounting or bookkeeping (2-3+ years preferred).
• Experience with sales tax compliance.
• Highly detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and deadlines.
• Comfortable working independently and managing your own schedule.
• Proficient in accounting software (Quickbooks).
• Excellent communicator, especially in a remote environment.
